Is Facebook Really a Big Deal for Marketers?
Facebook has become a social media giant and marketers who dismiss the power of the network may well be missing out on some valuable opportunities. With its pending IPO, Facebook has been busy rolling out new features for marketing through company pages, including the new timeline earlier introduced to individual pages. The new timeline for company pages will automatically replace the current view by the end of March 2012.
Facebook has also introduced inline advertising on the wall feed of individuals who like a company page. One such successful campaign was with US retail giant Macy’s. Individuals who liked the Macy’s page found a promotion for a discount that they could redeem in store just by printing out a coupon or showing the offer on their mobile phone.
